Traveller caravans moved off Wingfield Rec

Traveller vans were parked up at Wingfield Rec, off Roughwood Road in Kimberworth Park, last week.

Greasbrough Youth FC, who play on the field, cancelled training sessions, saying on social media that they had been “advised not to train on the pitches while cars are constantly circling the field”.

But by Friday, the encampment had moved on.

However, further caravans were spotted parked up outside the Canklow branch of Wickes on Tuesday.

RMBC’s acting assistant director of community safety and street scene, Sam Barstow, said: “We’re aware of travellers being located at the Wickes car park site in Canklow.

“This car park is privately owned and so it is the landowner’s responsibility to take action.

“Our officers will work with partners to provide appropriate advice and support where required.”
