Tram Train service could resume tomorrow following withdrawal of fleet

TRAM Train services could resume tomorrow (Tuesday) after the service was suspended for "thorough checks" to be carried out on the fleet.

The Stagecoach Supertram service, which links Parkgate, Rotherham and Sheffield, was suspended on Friday night when manufacturer Stadler withdrew the entire fleet.

Stadler said it had checked the entire fleet over the weekend and confirmed four units "were in good working order and fit to operate".

"We are continuing to run preventive inspections and maintenance operations on the remaining three, in order to get them up and running as soon as possible," said the spokesperson.

A Supertram representative said: "We are working with Stadler to try and resume two Tram Train services an hour in each direction tomorrow (Tuesday) morning and will confirm this later today.

"All other tram services continue to run as normal.

"We apologise to our customers for any inconvenience this has caused."
