Train bombarded with stones

THREE schoolboys put rail services at risk by throwing stones at a passing freight train in Maltby.

Transport police are appealing for information after objects were thrown at a freight service travelling to Cottam power station on Friday April 22 at around 12.50pm.

Investigating officer Pc Richard Ward said the incident left the train driver feeling shaken.

He explained: “We believe the stones were deliberately thrown at the passing train from

Blyth Road bridge in Maltby by three boys who were seen running from the scene along the tracks and towards Mortimer Road.

“As a result, a caution was put on the line, which could have caused delays to future passenger services.”
