FIREFIGHTERS were called out after a fire on farmland damaged a tractor and trailer yesterday.

Crews from Aston station attended Worksop Road in Lindrick Dale at 5.15pm after a controlled blaze spread to the vehicles.

They were there for about 40 minutes and a service spokesman said the incident was logged as accidental.

Meanwhile, two other farms fell victim to arson attacks over the weekend.

A 2,000 sq metre field of straw off Droppingwell Road, Blackburn, was targeted on Saturday. Firefighters from Darnall station attended at about 1pm.

And a corn field covering 200 sq metres was set alight on Station Lane, Maltby, at 6.45pm on Sunday.

The spokesman confirmed both fires were started deliberately.
