Now rigorously tested reinforced pedals will be installed to the effected cars to eliminate the excess friction that may cause the problem to occur.

The Japanese manufacturer claims that there have been no accidents as a result of the problem.

The list of recalled Toyota models, and and production periods effected, are: AYGO (Feb 2005 to Aug 2009); iQ (Nov 2008 to Nov 2009); Yaris (Nov 2005 to Sep 2009); Auris (Oct 2006 to Jan 5, 2010); Corolla (Oct 2006 to Dec 2009); Verso (Feb 2009 to Jan 5, 2010); Avensis (Nov 2008 to Dec 2009); and RAV4 (Nov 2005 to Nov 2009).
