Town centre traffic warden punched in chest

POLICE were called to reports of a traffic warden being assaulted by a motorist in Rotherham town centre.

Officers were called to reports of a female enforcement officer being punched in the chest on College Street shortly after noon today (Wednesday).

The incident followed a ticket being issued for using a disabled parking bay without displaying a blue badge.

A police spokeswoman said: “The car owner removed the ticket from his car and drove away before officers arrived.

“An investigation has now been launched and anyone with information is asked to call 101 quoting incident 318 of November 11.”
