Town centre jeweller robbed at knifepoint

POLICE are seeking a man in connection with a town centre armed robbery.

Officers would like to speak with witnesses to the crime, which was committed at 12.45pm on Monday, April 30.

Three men entered Diamonds Classic Gold Jewellers, Imperial Buildings, and threatened the shopkeeper with a knife.

They stole a “large quantity of jewellery”, according to a police spokesman, before making off in a stolen black Honda Civic.

Shakil Hussain (26) of Bridge Close, Airmyn, East Yorkshire, and Lyle Copley (22) of Cecil Avenue, Doncaster, were charged with robbery and possession of a bladed article. Both remain in custody.

Copley was also charged with possession of class A drugs with intent to supply and driving offences in connection to the incident.

Officers have released a CCTV image of a third man who may be able to assist their enquires.
