Tory Michelle Donelan furious at Royal Mail leaflets blunder

The Wentworth and Dearne candidate was alerted to the error by a woman from Barnsley—outside the constituency—who had wrongly received the election material.

Royal Mail diverted most of the leaflets to the correct sorting offices, but Miss Donelan was forced to reprint 1,300 to be delivered tomorrow.

She said: “This is a shambolic mistake and if I had not received a call from a kind lady in Tankersley, thousands of constituents would not have heard my message.

“I have now lost an entire day due to this error when I should have been out in the community meeting with residents.

“I will be taking this matter further after the election but my real concern is that all constituents get my address.

“I have said that the concerns of constituents will be my priorities but now voters will question that— especially postal voters who may have already sent their vote back in.”

Royal Mail said that it carried out a full investigation and sincerely apologised for the inconvenience caused to Miss Donelan.
