Tories hold Sitwell seat in election

TORY Chris Middleton held the Sitwell ward seat for his party in a by-election held following the death of veteran councillor Michael Clarke.

The Rotherham solicitor secured 1,213 votes to beat Labour’s Judith Dalton by more than 500 votes, with the Lib-Dems last on just 98.

Full result: Christopher Middleton (Con) 1,213; Judith Oliver Dalton (Lab) 864; David Ridgway (Ind) 252; John Wilkinson (UKIP) 241; Abdul Razaq (Lib-Dem) 98.
The turnout was 28.22 per cent.

  • I would like to say something about Judy Dalton. When I lived in Rotherham, as I did for the first twenty years of my life, she was my physiotherapist, and it is likely that I would be walking in far more pain, if not for her. I know she is deeply committed to Public Services, especially NHS,social care and Education. I do hope she tries again for political office, and if she does, I will be right behind her.
