Bluebell Wood and Macmillan Cancer Support will each receive £2150 and Rotherham Cancer Care will receive £533.

The event saw 36 police officers, police staff and their friends and family, hike across the idyllic English countryside on June 17.

On Friday representatives from the three charities accepted cheques from some of the intrepid team of walkers at Rotherham's Main Street Police Station.

Chief Supt Matt Jukes made the presentation as one of his last duties as District Commander of Rotherham before undertaking training that will allow him to further his career.

Chief Supt Jukes, who came to Rotherham in 2006, said: “I am honoured to present these cheques on behalf of all who took part in the charity walk.

“It highlights the generosity and kindness of the local community and although I will shortly be leaving the district, I will always be proud to associate myself with this great town and its great people.”
