An "outstanding" school had double cause for celebration after achieving two top inspection reports.

Wentworth C of E Junior and Infant school won high praise from OFSTED, for their use of specialist teachers as well as the high achievement and progress made by youngsters.

Inspector Andrew Clark said: "Pupils make rapid progress to reach high standards in many subjects.

"The pupils benefit from an innovative curriculum and teachers set high expectations.

"Children get off to a good start in the Early Years Foundation Stage. They make outstanding progress throughout the school to reach high standards in English, maths and many other subjects by the time they leave school."

Mr Clark also highlighted the entrepreneurial streak running through the classes.

"They show initiative," he said. "They recently turned £5 each into £500 though designing, making and selling, through local shops, a guide to the village."

OFSTED said that the use of specialist staff for gymnastics, modern languages and music contributed well to the high achievement and inspectors stated the importance of challenging all abilities.

The National Society Statutory Inspection of Anglican Schools, which reviews the religious aspects of Anglican schools' education, also described the 121-pupil Churchfield Lane school as "outstanding."
