Toddler found in car after high-speed police chase

POLICE found an toddler in the back of a car following a high-speed chase through Rotherham.

They came across the 18-month-old in a silver Volkswagen Golf on Saturday after its driver jumped out in an attempt to escape.

An officer had tried to stop the car after it “jumped red lights” and drove at speeds “well in excess of the speed limit” just before noon, a spokesman said.

A police dog tracked down the driver, who was arrested on suspicion of driving without a licence or insurance.

The spokesman added: “That someone would put themselves and others at risk for something like that always beggars
