Three deliberate fires in two hours at Mexborough

Firefighters from Dearne station were called to a roadside bin blaze on High Street at 7.35pm and spent 20 minutes at the scene.

Crews from Edlington, Dearne and Rotherham stations attended Beech Crescent at 9.26pm, when a car in a driveway was well alight.

Firefighters from Rotherham were called to Arnold Crescent at 9.38pm.

A service spokesperson said: “Upon arrival, they found a car well alight on a driveway. 

“This was dealt with by 10.22pm and is thought to have been started deliberately, in connection with the previous incident.”

Elsewhere, a pile of rubbish was placed on a market stall and set alight at Laughton Road in Dinnington shortly before 8.30pm.
