Three crews tackle large Swinton refuse fire

THREE crews spent an hour-and-a-half extinguishing a huge refuse fire last night.

THREE crews spent an hour-and-a-half extinguishing a huge refuse fire last night.

Firefighters from Dearne and Edlington stations attended Rowms Lane, Swinton at 11.30pm, where a large amount of rubbish was ablaze.

Staff did not leave the scene until 1am today.

The fire is thought to have started accidentally.

Firefighters also attended a grass fire in Thorpe Hesley yesterday.

One crew from Elm Lane attended Brook Hill at 7.20pm, leaving at around 8.50pm.

The blaze is also thought to have started accidentally.
