Three blazes across Dearne Valley

ARSONISTS struck twice last night in the Dearne Valley in the space of an hour.

The first deliberate blaze broke out on Beever Street, Goldthorpe, at 8.25pm where rubbish was set alight.

A fire crew spent 25 minutes bringing it under control.

An hour later, at 9.35pm more rubbish was set on fire on Chapel Lane, Thurnscoe, which was brought under control within 40 minutes.

A fire service spokeswoman said both blazes were deliberate.

An accidental blaze broke out on Hawthorne Road, Wath, at 11pm. Firefighters were at the scene for half an hour.
