Three arrested over 66,000-volt sub-station drama

THREE people have been arrested over an incident in which a man suffered a 66,000-volt electric shock when he allegedly tried to steal metal from a Rotherham electricity substation last week..

Two men, aged 45 and 16, and one woman aged 22, have been arrested in connection with the incident and bailed pending further police enquiries.

The 21-year-old’s condition is described as being comfortable as he is treated at Northern General Hospital, Sheffield.

He was found by police with serious burns to his head, chest and arms after coming into contact with wiring at the compound at the substation in Green Lane, Thurcroft, last Saturday.

Police have confirmed they will be speaking with him once he leaves hospital.
