Thousands respond to council cuts plea

COUNCIL bosses say that they have had an encouraging response to calls for the public to suggest how to cut £11 million from their budget.

Almost 5,000 people have visited the Money Matters section of the borough council’s website and 420 have filled in an online survey.

More than 980 visitors to the site have completed a “quick poll” and 35 have sent e-mails with suggestions.

The council says that it will collate people’s suggestions into a formal report and take them into account when deciding where to make cuts.
