Owners N. Stones Builders Ltd, of Thurnscoe, have offered a "substantial reward" for its return.

The machine was being used to create ramps and paths to make life easier for old folk at a complex in Leverton Way, Dalton, when the gang struck at around 7.30am on Monday, November 9.

Alan Young, the firm's contracts manager, said: "It is possible the machine is in a container by now and heading abroad.

"We have had to hire another machine to carry on the work and the incident has left old people on the complex very frightened."

Anyone with information on the digger's whereabouts is asked to contact Alan on 01709 895335 or 07817 928901.
