Theatre group’s tribute to lost members

A THEATRE group will pay tribute to two of its former members with a musical celebration evening.

Members Wickersley Musical Theatre Company (previously Wickersley Operatic Society) members will gather in memory of Joan Cowley, formerly musical director society and Barry Henson, former chairman of the society, who both died after suffering long-term illness.

Both had been made life members for their service and dedication to the world of musical theatre.

The tribute night is at Wickersley Community Centre from on Friday, December 8, 7.30pm.

Performers throughout the evening including Harmonix, Mac and Laura Johnson and past and present members of Wickersley Musical Theatre Company.

A collection will be made for Rotherham Hospice, where Joan spend her last days, and Davies Court Residential Care Home, Barry’s home in his later years.

Tickets are £5 each and include a glass of wine and mince pie for adults or a glass of pop and a cupcake for children.

They are available from Deborah Stacey on 07955 214980 or by calling in to the community centre on Tuesday evenings between 7.30pm and 9.30pm. 

Wickersley Musical Theatre Company’s next production, Whistle Down the Wind, at Rotherham Civic Theatre from February 20 to 24.
