The pride of Young Rotherham

A hard day’s work lay ahead for the judges of the 2013 Rotherham Advertiser Young Achievers Awards as they gathered at the Advertiser’s offices in Manvers to select the short list and winners.

This year’s awards, which culminate in a Gala Ceremony at magna Rotherham on May 24,  have attracted a large entry from all over the borough, representing the widest cross section of interests and backgrounds.

“One thing, however, unites all the entries,” said Nigel Keenlyside from Headline Sponsor, Parkgate Shopping, and one of the judges, “and that is the quality of all the young people whose achievements we had to consider.”

He adds: “ The general consensus was that the standard was as high as it has ever been, which made the task of finding winners extremely difficult. Although there are some exceptional individuals among the entries, what we found particularly pleasing was the range of young people who were nominated this year in all the categories.”

Young Achievers, now in its sixth year, showcases young people who have shone in their particular field, supported their communities or cared for individuals.

“It is a true reflection of the great work and commitment of young people throughout Rotherham, and we should all be proud of their achievements,” says Nigel.
