'Tell us you're safe' — police appeal to woman pulled down street in dressing gown

DETECTIVES appealed for information after a woman was dragged down the street in her dressing gown in the early hours.

She was spotted being pulled along Fitzwilliam Road in Eastwood shortly after 2.42am yesterday (Tuesday) by a man, who was with five or six others.

The woman is described as Eastern European, aged about 28, with long blonde hair and dark roots. She was believed to be wearing a long, fluffy maroon dressing gown, tied in the middle.

Det Insp Joanne Kemp said: “We are still looking in to the circumstances surrounding this incident.

“Officers have been reviewing all nearby CCTV footage and conducting door-to-door enquiries on the street.

“Our first priority is to carry out a welfare check on the woman involved and I would like to directly appeal to her to get in touch, please contact police as a matter of urgency to let us know you are okay. 

“Officers have checked all local hospitals and continue to carry out automatic number plate recognition work for any cars that were in the area at the time.

It happened near the junction with Denman Street. Anyone with information should call 101 quoting incident 109 of May 26.
