Readers’ memories of the great deluge of 2007 have been flooding in — but we still need more.

At the end of June, we will be marking the tenth anniversary of the crisis with a special supplement pulling together the most memorable pictures and stories from our coverage at the time with new interviews, unseen photographs, readers’ pictures and stories of disaster and great community spirit.

If you were affected by the floods — whether it meant your house was flooded out, you couldn’t get to work or a vital appointment, your commute along the M1 was scotched after it had to be closed, your road turned into a torrent or you benefited from the kind-hearted actions of a neighbour or loved one — we would love to hear from you.

You can call us on 01709 768146, email us your memories to, find us on Facebook or Tweet @rotherhamtiser.

The fact you are here means you are interested in what goes on in your town.

We want to continue holding local authorities to account, attending court and council meetings, as well as providing breaking news, competitions and offers – but it costs money. Online advertising does not cover costs, therefore we feel the need to ask for your help in ensuring we can provide the best possible coverage, online and in our printed products.
For as little as £1, you can support the Rotherham Advertiser – and it only takes a minute.
