Teenagers survive bike crash

TWO teenagers were lucky to survive yesterday as their off-road bike careered into a car in Goldthorpe.

A 15-year-old local boy, riding pillion sustained a broken leg and head injuries before being taken to Barnsley District General Hospital where he was detained after the collision at 10.35am.

The off-road MaxPro black and gold bike was one of two that were riding the wrong way along Main Road.

As the bikes reached the junction with Lockwood Road, they turned right across the path of a red Citroen C2 that was travelling on Lockwood Road towards Doncaster Road.

The second of the two bikes collided with the front of the Citroen, throwing the rider and passenger from the bike.

The driver a 13-year-old boy, was taken to the same hospital for minor cuts and bruises.

Police would like to hear from anyone who saw what happened before or after the collision.
