Teenagers in court over series of burglaries across Rotherham and Sheffield

TWO teenagers have appeared in court after being charged in connection to a series of burglaries in Rotherham and Sheffield.

Brandon Worthington (19), of Lytton Crescent, Sheffield, and a 17-year-old youth, who cannot be named for legal reasons, were arrested after police spotted two stolen vehicles at a scrap yard in Fullerton Road, Canklow.

Enquiries linked the incident to burglaries and attempted burglaries which had been reported in Rotherham and Sheffield between May 9 and the early hours of May 12, police said.

"Worthington was charged last Thursday with four counts of attempted burglarly, three counts of burglary and two counts of theft of a motor vehicle," added a police spokeswoman.

"The 17-year-old boy was charged with the same offences, plus one count of handling stolen goods."

The two accused appeared in court last Friday (May 14).

Worthington was remanded in custody, while the youth admitted the charges against him and was bailed for sentencing at a later date.

A 38-year-old man arrested on suspicion of handling stolen goods has been released under investigation.
