Teenagers charged in Mexborough murder case

TWO teenagers are due to appear at court today charged with the murder of a 20-year-old man shot in Mexborough.

A 16-year-old boy and a 17-year-old boy, both from Doncaster, will appear at Doncaster Magistrates' Court charged with the murder of Lewis Williams, possession of a firearm with intent to cause fear of violence and criminal damage.

The 16-year-old has also been charged with assault.

Neither of the boys can be identified for legal reasons.

Lewis died after being shot on Wath Road on Monday afternoon.

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder has been bailed pending further enquiries, a police spokeswoman said, while a 22-year-old man and a 32-year-old man arrested on suspicion of murder both remain in police custody.

A 20-year-old man who was arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail pending further enquiries.
