Teenager stabbed over gold chain scuffle in Whiston

A TEENAGE boy was stabbed in Whiston by two men who tried to steal jewellery from him.

The 15 year-old was walking behind Greystones Road at 6.30pm yesterday, police said, when he got into a scuffle with two men who attempted to steal a gold chain.

One of the men then stabbed him, said police, adding that the victim had managed to walk to the Co-Op on Worrygoose Lane and raised the alarm before being taken to hospital.  

Detectives confirmed the teenager had been to hospital for treatment and later discharged.

Det Sgt Christopher Byne said: “I know incidents like this are a great cause of concern to the community, and enquiries to identify the individuals responsible are continuing.

“I want to appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to please come forward ad speak to us.

“We are particularly keen to speak to anyone who was in the area at the time of the incident and may have seen the offenders either before, during or after the assault.”
