Teenager charged following motorbike robbery

A 17-YEAR-old has been charged with a catalogue of offences following an alleged motorbike robbery in Rotherham.

He was arrested by police hours after they were called last Tuesday to investigate a reported robbery in Poplar Way, Catcliffe.

A spokeswoman said someone had threatened a man with a weapon before stealing his motorbike.

The teenager, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was arrested by district and SYP operations officers later that day and has since appeared before court charged with ten offences, said the spokeswoman. 

''He is charged with robbery, possession of a bladed article, attempt robbery, theft of motor vehicle, aggravated taking without consent, possession of a class B drug and numerous driving offences,'' she added.

The boy appeared before Sheffield Youth Court last Thursday and was bailed by the court while the investigation continues.

He is due to appear at court again next Tuesday, September 29.
