A TEENAGER was arrested in Brinsworth shortly after ditching his car following a police pursuit which started in Sheffield.

It was reported that a speeding Volkswagen Golf failed to stop on Upwell Street, Sheffield, at around 9am yesterday.

The driver of the Gold led police on a pursuit through Attercliffe and Tinsley, said a police spokeswoman.

"The car was found abandoned on Ferrars Road in Brinsworth and the driver had fled the scene," she added.

"A short time later, a 17-year-old man was arrested in the Brinsworth area, on suspicion of dangerous driving.

"He was later released under investigation pending further enquiries."
