Teenage politician Amaan in the running for national award

A TEENAGER is a finalist at the British Muslim Awards for his work as a member of youth parliament for Rotherham.

Fourteen-year-old Amaan Ali Saqlain is up for young achiever of the year at the event in Manchester tomorrow.

He said: “I will continue to fight for the voiceless and the young people of this borough till my last days, so help me god.

“I want to ensure that the young people of all races, religions and cultures and walks of life are heard, so that young people understand British values and integrate while benefiting in our society.”

The awards recognise achievements from Muslim individuals across sectors including business, charity, sport, arts and religious advocacy.
