Tea towel on hob causes kitchen fire

A FIRE broke out in a kitchen in Munsbrough on Friday night after a tea towel was left on a hob.

Firefighters from Rotherham station were called to a property on Fenton Way at 9.05pm where a fire had been started accidentally, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

The fire was already out by the time crews arrived and they spent 15 minutes at the scene, she added.

Firefighters from Rotherham station were also called to Oates Close, Thornhill, at 11.30pm on Friday to a van fire which was out an arrival, the spokeswoman said.

The cause of the van fire is unknown.
