“Officers also issued two red diesel fines and colleagues from the DVSA (Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency) issuing 14 prohibition notices for vehicle faults, two of which were immediate prohibitions.”

Barnsley Council also took part in the operation, issuing two waste carrier licence fines.

Sgt Darby added: “We weren’t just dealing with vehicles, the Barnsley Tasking Team also executed a drugs warrant in Goldthorpe, seizing an amount of cannabis.

“One man was cautioned.

“We had PCSOs out for high-visibility patrols in Hoyland, Elsecar, Jump, Platts Common and Hoyland Common, talking to local people and handing out crime prevention advice.

“They spoke to over 250 people and I’d like to thank everyone who stopped for a chat with us, as it really helps to build stronger relationships in the community.”
