Suspect released in robbery investigation

A MAN questioned after a robbery in which a pensioner was allegedly tied up has been released by police.

The 49-year-old suspect, who has not been named, was arrested on Wednesday for conspiracy to rob over the alleged incident in Spring Walk, Clifton, on Tuesday.

A South Yorkshire Police spokeswoman said the man had now been “released under investigation as enquiries continue”.

Police said the 70-year-old woman had been led around the house by a man who demanded jewellery, which he stuffed into a pillow case before fleeing.

Officers are still appealing for information about the incident, which happened at about 4.40pm.

It is said to have involved a man who was wearing dark clothing and had his face covered.
