Survey launched to help stop veterans "falling through the cracks"

The national survey aims to build a comprehensive plan to improve support for UK forces veterans and their families, to stop people falling through the cracks.

Last week, the Commons debated the Armed Forces Bill, with Labour accusing the government of cutting help for veterans and failing on their pledge to Forces personnel to put the Armed Forces Covenant, a charter designed to ensure Armed Forces and their families are treated fairly, fully into law.

Shadow health secretary Mr Healey (pictured) said: “Our British Armed Forces personnel protect the country and serve us all. We have a responsibility to all our veterans, which is why we want to put the Armed Forces Covenant fully into law.

“We’ll speak to veterans across the country about their experiences, and how government can work for them.

“We want to make sure we are doing everything we can to give them the support they deserve, to find work, a home, good healthcare and security.”

Mr Healey is writing to armed forces charities in the constituency encouraging them to take part in the survey.
