Suitcase with 'accelerants' explodes in field

A SUITCASE containing a number of accelerants exploded in a field, police said.

Officers responded to a report from a walker who had heard a loud bang in Laughton Common at around 5.30am on Sunday.

They found a small suitcase just off Station Road, which contained a number of accelerants, at around 12.40pm.

A spokeswoman said the items had been recovered and were being forensically examined by specialist officers.

Anyone with any information should call police on 101, quoting incident number 453 of Sunday, October 8.
