A SUITCASE containing a number of accelerants exploded in a field.

A SUITCASE containing a number of accelerants exploded in a field, police said.

Officers responded to a report from a walker who had heard a loud bang in Laughton Common at around 5.30am on Sunday.

They found a small suitcase just off Station Road, which contained a number of accelerants, at around 12.40pm.

A spokeswoman said the items had been recovered and were being forensically examined by specialist officers.
