Two crews from Rotherham station were called to the Brentwood hotel and pub in Moorgate Road at 6.30am and helped move guests to a different part of the hotel.

A dangerous structure engineer also attended the scene, said a fire service spokeswoman.

“Luckily no-one was injured in the incident,” she added.

Brentwood manager Alison Sissons confirmed the tree had fallen due to the stormy weather.

Ms Sissons said some of the hotel rooms were closed this morning but the pub was open to customers.
