Her proud mum Zoe Healey said: “I got a phone call from Miss Clayton at school to say that Alicia had won her prom paid for.

“She’s worked really hard at school and not had any days off and is always at the top of the board for doing well.

“I didn’t know anything about it until then but it turns out they asked the teachers to choose a student who deserved to win.

“She got her dress, hair and make-up paid for and a ride in a silver limousine.

“Alicia and and her best friend, Kelsey Greenall, had their photos taken at Conisbrough Castle before going on to the prom at Hellaby Hall Hotel.

“I’m very proud of her and want to say thank you to everyone that has made this happen.”

Alicia, who is awaiting her GCSE results and plans to go on to Doncaster College to study animal care, said the prize prom night had come out of the blue, adding: “They just said it was for doing well at school.

“It didn’t really sink in for a while.

“I had a great night and I just want to say thank you.”

Sam Ward of Mexborough Funeralcare, which also arranged the limousine, said it had been easy to find businesses through social media and email to back her mission to “provide a prom” for a deserving student.

“The school said they had chosen a young lady who was a model student.

“She does everything that is asked of her and is an asset to the school.

“When Alicia found out which dress store was helping she was over the moon, saying she had really wanted something from that shop.”
