Sports club targeted by vandals again

LATE-NIGHT vandals caused costly damage to a sports club for the second time in seven months.

Would-be burglars smashed their way through the door of the entrance lobby at Parkgate Astro on March 11 but left empty-handed after failing to get any further into the building.

The football facility, which is owned and operated by Rotherham United Community Sports Trust, was also targeted last August by intruders who rolled up and tried in vain to steal sections of artificial grass.

“Once inside, the offender has been unable to access any other parts of the building, and left empty-handed.
