Speedy tool coming to Rotherham is world’s biggest
The £1.8 million DMU 340 G Linear is the largest of its kind in the world — boasting a 59sq metre footprint.
Its high frequency movements bring a higher degree of control and the technology is suited to hard, brittle materials like alloys.

Hide AdThe machine will be used by companies like McLaren, Roll-Royce, Boeing, BAE and Airbus at the hi-tech park, Catcliffe, after it arrives in December.
Dr Kevin Kerrigan, AMRC composites machining group lead, said: “This machine is the first of the DMU 340 G product range to have the ultrasonic assisted machining kit.
“It cements the AMRC’s reputation for world-leading research for capabilities in composite machining.”
While in use, the machine provides data which can help improve its own performance — and even prolong its life.
