Spate of Bonfire Night arson attacks around the borough

WHEELIE bins, a sofa, grassland and tyres were all set on fire last night (Monday) by arsonists.

It was a busy Bonfire Night for firefighters who were called out to deliberate grassland blaze in Munsbrough at 7.50pm. Firefighters from Rivelin station attended the Broom Riddings incident for around an hour. 

Rubbish and tyres were set alight in Bramley. Firefighters from Dearne station were called to The Centre at 8pm and spent around 15 minutes putting out the fire, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

A sofa in an alleyway in Wath was also targeted on Avenue Road at 9.50pm and two wheelie bins in Auburn Road, Edlington, were deliberately torched at 8.20pm. Firefighters were at the scene for 80 minutes.
