South Yorkshire Police promote autism alert cards

SYP worked with the National Autistic Society on the free, credit card-sized alerts, which launched across the region last March.

The idea is to give police and other emergency services workers information about people they deal with who are on the autism spectrum — and how best to communicate with them.

Applicants provide their formal diagnosis from their GP and details about their needs and sensory experiences.
