South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue "appalled" by 11 deliberate fires in one night

SOUTH Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said they were "appalled" after fire crews were sent out to 11 deliberate fire incidents across the region in just one night.

Despite the coronavirus crisis, arsonists had been deliberately starting fires in a number of areas, including one in Kimberworth, Rotherham, while the reminder of incidents happened across Doncaster, Barnsley and Sheffield.

A message from South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue, sent out across their social media channels addressing the issue, read: "Appalled doesn't quite cover it!

"Our firefighters were called to repeat deliberate fires last night (Sunday) -  bin fires, rubbish fires, scrub fires, you name it, they dealt with it. Far more than a normal night."

Deliberate incidents on Monday night had seen a drop, totalling just five.
