Skip set alight near Rotherham town centre

AN INDUSTRIAL skip was set alight off Wellgate in the early hours of today (Tuesday).

Firefighters were called to Hollowgate shortly before 12.50am and spent nearly an hour at the scene.

Elsewhere, a garden fire spread left unattended spread to the overgrown surroundings at Dunns Dale in Maltby, at about 9.34pm yesterday.

And a discarded cigarette is thought to have been the cause of a fire involving two sheds and a fence at Foundry Gate in Wombwell, at 10pm.

Over the bank holiday weekend, there was an accidental garden blaze at Newbiggin Drive, Parkgate, on Saturday evening and a car fire involving a Peugeot 207 CC at Arbour Lane, Ravenfield, on Sunday evening.
