Ski lessons keep Dearne kids out of trouble

POLICE have been giving young people something to do—by offering them the chance to learn how to ski and snowboard.

A group of 17 teenagers from Conisbrough, Denaby and Mexborough took to the slopes at Sheffield Ski Village for the lessons, funded by South Yorkshire Sport Unlimited.

The Safer Neighbourhood Teams advertised the course in youth clubs, and PCSS John Barker said “The young people have really enjoyed this alternative activity.

“It has given them something to do during the evening and to look forward to.

“We will look at providing this sort of activity, as well as other activities, again so that other young people can have the same opportunity to learn new skills.”
