Sixth arrest in Mexborough murder case

A SIXTH person has been arrested by detectives in connection with the killing of Lewis Williams in Mexborough.

A 32-year-old Doncaster man was brought in overnight and is in police custody with four others held on suspicion of murder — men aged 23 and 20 and boys aged 16 and 17.

A 20-year-old man arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender has been released on bail pending further enquiries, police said.

Mr Williams (20) died on Wath Road after being shot on Monday afternoon.

A police spokesperson said: “The cordon that was in place on Wath Road has now been lifted, but other scenes remain in place as the investigation continues. There will continue to be an increased police presence in the area over the coming days.

“If you have any information about Mr Williams’ death, if you are a motorist who may hold dash-cam footage of the incident, detectives remain keen to hear from you.”
