Six vehicles targeted in arson attacks across Rotherham

ARSONISTS set four vehicles alight in a Canklow car park in the early hours of this morning (Monday) after a busy weekend for firefighters.

Firefighters from Rotherham station were called to the deliberate fire on Old Sheffield Road at 12.40am and were at the scene until 1.20am, a spokeswoman for South Yorkshire Fire and Rescue said.

The make and model of the vehicles was unknown, she added.

A BMW was set alight in an arson attack in Carr on Saturday morning.

Firefighters from Maltby station were called to the deliberate fire on Carr Lane at 5.45am and were at the scene until 6.10am, the spokeswoman said.

And a Porsche was deliberately set alight in Holmes on Sunday afternoon.

Firefighters from Rotherham station were called to the deliberate fire on Steel Street at 3.20pm and tackled the blaze for about half-an-hour, the spokeswoman said.

Crews were also called to Shelley Road, Herringthorpe at 2.30am this morning (Monday) where a car engine had accidentally caught fire, the spokeswoman said.
