Six months in jail for Rotherham burglar

A PROLIFIC Rotherham burglar has been jailed for six months after admitting a series of break-ins.

Daniel Howson (pictured), of no fixed abode, was arrested on October 23 and later charged after a spate of offences targeting small businesses.

The 28-year-old admitted breaking into and stealing from a jewellers, a hair salon and a restaurant in the space of little over a week and was sentenced at Sheffield Crown Court last Thursday.

Each time, he got away with expensive products and quantities of cash, while causing thousands of pounds worth of damage to each premises, said Det Insp Andy Knowles.

“We know the harm burglars cause,” he said.

“We know the public want to see action and we are working tirelessly to get the results — identifying thieves, bringing them in to custody and putting them before the courts.”
