Six arrested after man's eye socket, jaw and cheekbone broken in attack

POLICE have made six arrests after a assault in which a man suffered a broken eye socket, jaw and cheekbone.

The 25-year-old victim attended Rotherham Hospital after the attack in Wath shortly after 9am yesterday (Sunday).

Police said he also had substantial bruising to his body as detectives appealed for witnesses.

A force spokesperson said: “We would like to identify any passers-by who saw this incident, and are particularly keen to speak to a man who we believe was jogging through the area at the time.

“We’d also like to encourage anyone who witnessed anything suspicious in the Church Street, West Street, Barnsley Road and Biscay Lane areas between 9am and 9.45am to come forward.”

The men arrested — aged between 18 and 58 — were held on suspicion of section 18 wounding with intent to do GBH. They have since been bailed.
