Singer helps hospital charity benefit to tune of £1,800

A FUNDRAISING event which featured a raffle and a live singer raised £1,800 for a cancer hospital charity.

Neil Waddington, manager of The Rhinoceros pub, teamed up with customer Donna Grant for the event at the pub in aid of  Weston Park Cancer Charity, which included face painting, a raffle, bingo, and a performance by singer Ray Faid.

Fellow customer Sarah Battersby (35), of Meadowbank, had her head shaved to bring in more cash.

Among the raffle prizes on offer were a 55-inch TV, donated by the landlord of the County pub, and four tickets for Rotherham United.

Donna, who organised the event within six weeks, said she had been a patient at Weston Park for 15 years and it was a cause close to her heart.

She said it had been such a success they were planning to hold more fundraisers next Easter and next summer.
