Sex case accused denies abuse claims

A takeaway delivery driver among eight men accused of 23 sex offences against teenage girls has denied abusing two alleged victims.

Razwan Razaq, known as Taz, now aged 30, admitted regularly meeting sexual partners on the streets of Rotherham.

But he insisted that the two girls told him that they were 16, although Sheffield Crown Court heard that they were 13 at the time.

His brother, Umar Razaq (24), is charged with trying to have sex with a 13-year-old and raping her 16-year-old cousin.

He admitted seeing a younger girl for two months, meeting her in alleyways in the town centre “for a fag and a chat,” occasionally “having a kiss and a cuddle.”

But denied telling her he was 16 or ever asking her for sex.

The eight men, who all deny the charges against them, are: Adil Hussain (20), of Nelson Street, Rotherham, Saeed Hussain (29), of Hatherley Road, Eastwood, Shalzaad Hussain (22), of Clough Road, Masbrough, Mohsin Khan (22), of Haworth Crescent, Moorgate, Zafran Ramzan (21) of Broom Grove, Broom, Razwan Razaq (30), of Oxford Street, Clifton, Umar Razaq (24), of Oxford Street, Clifton and Shazad Akbar (23), of Shirecliffe Lane, Shirecliffe, Sheffield.

The trial continues.
