Second school shuts due to norovirus outbreak

A SECOND school has closed today (Friday) due to the norovirus outbreak.

Brampton Cortonwood Infant School is closed to allow a deep clean to take place.

Similar measures have been taken at nearby Brampton Ellis Primary in West Melton — both schools will reopen on Monday (2).

A Rotherham Council spokesman said: "Brampton Ellis Primary School has closed due to staff and pupils experiencing gastric flu-type symptoms. Cortonwood Infant School will also be closed on Friday due to pupils and staff being affected with similar gastric flu symptoms.

“Both schools are using guidance and advice from Public Health England and are arranging a deep clean to facilitate a full opening of school on Monday, December 2.”
